On April 19th, we received the dreaded phone call that Max had been in a horrific car accident.
He was air lifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center with multiple injuries, including broken bones, collapsed lungs, and his brain severely injured. The next few days and weeks were very critical as he depended on multiple machines to keep him alive.
By a miracle, Max survived the critical phase. On day 28, he was transferred to Vanderbilt Stallworth Rehabilitation, however, he still cannot function like he used to. He struggles with short-term memory loss, confusion, and the ability to complete daily tasks. The doctors believe that his best chance at reclaiming his life lies in an intensive brain injury rehabilitation program at QLI in Omaha, Nebraska. This is a specialized facility known for helping people like Max recover not just medically but meaningfully.
He arrived in Nebraska on June 9th and we are hopeful he will gain the independence, personality, and purpose he once had. After he was accepted to the program, we discovered insurance had denied this essential treatment. We are now faced with the unthinkable, to raise the funds ourselves.
With your help, we can give Max the chance he deserves. Please consider purchasing a shirt, sharing, and praying for our sweet boy. Help us bring Max back.
